Student & Family Edition - Your Guide to Early College Success
|
|
|
| October 2026
Fall is officially underway, and our LCEC students are flying strong! We are excited to see the progress students are making in their college courses and the confidence they are building as they navigate their first college experiences.
Students enrolled in a seven-week course are now past the halfway point and nearing the finish line! FYS students are also doing an amazing job and continue to demonstrate that they are ready to take on the challenge of college coursework. Keep up the great work! |
|
|
For students continuing with an additional seven-week course, the next session will begin October 28th. All fall college courses will wrap up on December 19th, so the finish line for fall is officially in sight!
We are also excited to welcome Travis Wobrock to the LCEC team! Travis is joining us as the Jackson College Navigator for all LCEC students. If you are an Onsted student or family, you may know Travis from his time working at Onsted High School. Travis' knowledge of both high school expectations and the college services will be a benefit to all students, families, and school districts.
As we head into October, Travis will be working alongside students as they prepare for and complete registration for their January semester courses. Your student(s) should bring a course registration form home to be signed and then return to their local high designated staff member. Additionally, Parent/Teacher Conferences season is beginning. See the important dates section for the conferences where LCEC will be represented at. Please feel free to stop by and ask questions, or just say hello!
There is a lot to celebrate as we reach this point in the semester! Students are gaining confidence, navigating college expectations, and so much more. We are grateful for the hard work students are putting in and for the encouragement families provide along the way. Each assignment completed and challenge overcome is another step toward the future they are building!
Here's to celebrating the progress so far and finishing the fall semester strong! Amanda Koch, LCEC Director |

Student Spotlight: Meet One of Our LCEC Students! |
Each month we will highlight a student and learn a little more about their goals, interests, and experiences as part of Lenawee County Early College! |
Featured Flight: Education Careers at LISD TECH Center |
Each month, the LCEC Connection will highlight a certificate or degree pathway available through the LCEC program. These spotlights are intended to familiarize students and families with the educational opportunities available through LCEC. For students who know they want to make a difference in the lives of others, the Education Careers program at the LISD TECH Center offers a unique flight plan toward a future in education. Through this pathway, students can combine career-focused learning at the TECH Center with college coursework at Jackson College while they are still in high school.
During the 11th and 12th grade years, students complete their Education Careers program while earning the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Michigan Youth Development Associate (MI-YDA) credential. Students also complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) through Jackson College. After completion of the 12th grade year, students continue into the 13th year at Adrian College, where they complete education-focused coursework. Students also receive additional Adrian College credit through articulation with the Education Careers program for Childhood Development (TED 206) and Foundations of Education (TED 240).
This pathway is a great example of how every student's pathway can look a little different. By connecting Career and Technical Education, transferable college coursework, and a 13th year at Adrian College, students can begin building their future in education well before they leave high school. |
